Fountain Hills’ art community: stunning from every angle
In Fountain Hills, the sun puts on a show at sunrise and sunset, the desert dresses up in vibrant blooms, and every summit is steeped in history. It’s an artist’s playground, which inspires local artists to generate indoor and outdoor works of art enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
Here’s how to add some artistic expression to your visit…
LOOK FOR OUR PUBLIC ART
Just in case the scenic vistas in Fountain Hills aren’t enough to delight, visitors can appreciate more than 150 sculptures, flat art, and fountains as they stroll Avenue of the Fountains, Fountain Park, and Centennial Circle.
And inside the Community Center and Public Library, visitors are greeted by a variety of bronzes, murals, paintings, photography, and three-dimensional art.
The collection is the result of more than 20 years of partnership between the Fountain Hills Cultural and Civic Association (FHCCA) and other community members dedicated to the public art vision and is the largest display of public art in the state of Arizona.
Members of the Public Art Committee work with Town staff to determine how public art will be selected and where it will be located. Sometimes a particular work of art is actively procured, or an artist is selected for a specific project. Sometimes the Town becomes the beneficiary of a gift or loan. And some new art is the result of the Town’s public art fund, which stipulates that a developer must install its own public art or contribute one percent of new commercial developments to the fund.
